ANKARA - A 'peace chain' will be formed with white ribbons in front of Ankara Train Station where 103 people lost their lives as a result of a bomb attack.

September 1 World Peace Day event in Ankara will be organized this year under the leadership of October 10 Peace and Solidarity Association (10 October-Association). World Peace Day will be welcomed in front of Ankara Train Station where 103 people lost their lives as a result of an ISIS bomb attack.

A peace chain will be formed with white ribbons. Forces of democracy and labour will attend the event besides Peace Mothers, who will be attending with their white scarves. White balloons will be released. The program will start at 10.04, at the same time the bomb went off in 2015.

10 October- Association President Mehtap Sakinci Çoşgun providing information about the program, stated that they will be very sensitive to the social distancing issue.

PEACE HAS A GREAT PRICE

Coşgun said, “We know that the price of peace in this country is immense. Five years ago we were at this rally with our brothers, sisters, mothers, fathers. We were there for peace. But the rally was interrupted with bombs. Our aim is to make sure this will always remembered.  We have to express this not only on World Peace Day, but in fact, 365 days a year. In this respect, September 1, World Peace Day has a different and important meaning for us."

Stating that this will be a symbolic event because of the outbreak, Çoşgun said: "The demand for peace has deep roots in this country. The outbreak is not an obstacle to not do this event. We can do it with regard of our measures. We will not forget those people who were slaughtered at the rally. We will voice their demand for peace. Those bombers did not reach their goals that day, and we will never let them reach that goal."

'PEACE RIGHT NOW'

Noting that there was carnage in the country before October 10, 2015, and that it continued after the bombing, Çoşgun said: "In this country, peace must be the main concern of the people. It must be the main concern not only in Turkey but all around the world. In a place where there is no peace, it can be defined as a virtueless way of life for a person to struggle for his own individual troubles. People are being murdered, this must be our main concern. We have always opposed the war. Now and before."

Emphasizing that the support of the people will empower them, Çoşgun called out to the people to be there on September 1 to say 'Peace right now!'
