ISTANBUL - The young people who started to flock to Yenikapı Square, the address of 2023 Newroz in Istanbul, greeted PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan with slogans and condemned the isolation.

 

This year, the 2023 Newroz, which is dedicated to those who lost their lives in the Maraş-centered earthquakes, is celebrated in Yenikapı Square in Istanbul with the slogan "Everywhere is Newroz, Everytime is Freedom" and "Freedom with the fire of Newroz". The giant stage set up in the square was equipped with blacks in Newroz, led by the Peoples' Democratic Congress (HDK) and the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP). Thousands of people, who set out to reach Yenikapı Square from many districts of Istanbul from the early hours of the morning, started to enter the area after a security search in the square. While some parts of Yenikapı Marmaray Metro entrance are closed by the police, entrances to the area are provided from the Aksaray exit.

 

SALUTE TO ÖCALAN, LIFT ISOLATION

 

The youth, who flocked to Yenikapı Square despite the torrential rain, greeted PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan with the slogans "Bijî Serok Apo" and "Be Serok jiyan na be" and showed their condemnation at the isolation. Those who flocked to the square with HDP and Green Left Party flags continue to wait with the slogans "Biji berxwedana zindanan(Long live the resistance of the prisons)" and "Jin, jiyan, azadi".
