The public meetings organised by the Democratic Regions Party (DBP) and Peoples' Equality and Democracy Party (DEM Party) within the scope of "Social Peace and Freedom Meetings" continue. In the meetings held in Qers (Kars), Mersin, Semsûr (Adıyaman) and Bedlîs (Bitlis), reactions to the attacks on North and East Syria were expressed and it was emphasised that the İmralı talks on the one hand and the attacks on the other cannot be carried out.

DBP and DEM Party organised a public meeting in Qers within the scope of "Social Peace and Freedom Meetings". DEM Party Îdir (Iğdır) MP Yılmaz Hun, DEM Party Women's Assembly member Şirvan Göçer, DEM Party FMC member Necmettin Basçı, co-mayors of Dîgor and Bazarcîx municipalities, municipal council members and many citizens attended the meeting.

 

Speaking after a minute of silence for those who lost their lives in the struggle for peace and democracy, DEM Party Îdir MP Yılmaz Hun said that the Kurdish people have been denied for centuries and against this the Kurdish people have been continuing their struggle to demand freedom for centuries. Stating that in recent years, a plan of subjugation against the Kurdish people continues with a heavy isolation policy against Öcalan, Hun said, "On the one hand, there is a dialogue process, on the other hand, there is an attack on Rojava, on the other hand, there is an attack on Kurdish gains by appointing trustees. This process cannot continue with these contradictions. Mr Öcalan presented the model of coexistence of different peoples within the framework of democratic nation to Turkey and the Middle East."

DEM Party Group Deputy Chair Sezai Temelli and DEM Party Peoples and Beliefs Commission Co-spokesperson Yüksel Mutlu as well as many people attended the meeting held at DEM Party Mersin Provincial Organization.

 

Stating that the way to peace passes through İmralı, Temelli said, "We insist that this issue must be resolved on democratic political grounds in order for Turkey to democratise and the region to attain peace and tranquility. The way and method for this is through İmralı, that is, the interlocutor is Mr Öcalan. Mr Öcalan is the chief negotiator for this. The solution to the problems lies in a democratic nation. This solution is through a democratic republic. This solution is through coexistence. It passes through a social negotiation on the basis of equal citizenship. This is what we are struggling for."

 

Explaining PKK Leader Abdullah Öcalan's approach to the solution of the Kurdish issue, Temelli reminded that Turkey was plunged into chaos after the end of the process carried out in 2013-2015. Temelli added, "We are in a new period of dialogue that started in October. Can a negotiation ground be created? Yes, it can. In order to create and realise this, the way to reach the democratic nation that all Middle Eastern peoples are waiting for is to take these steps. We are behing every step taken by Mr Öcalan as negotiator." Temelli pointed out that the struggle must be increased in order to create the ground for negotiations.
