ANKARA – President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan commented on the ongoing process, sayin: “The PKK will lay down arms, and then a new phase, a new era for all of us, will begin. A challenging process lies ahead.”
President Erdoğan of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) held a meeting at the party’s headquarters with several ministers and lawmakers. Speaking during the meeting, Erdoğan addressed debates surrounding the resolution of the Kurdish question and emphasized the need for sensitivity.
Stating that all obstacles had been overcome, Erdoğan warned about the importance of managing the process carefully.
“Today or tomorrow, the PKK will lay down its arms and dissolve the organization. After that, a new process — a new era — will begin for all of us. Politics will have a major role to play,” he said.
Emphasizing the importance of careful management, Erdoğan said, “There may be those who seek to exploit this politically, and we must be prepared for that as well. A challenging process lies ahead. I trust you on this matter.”
Erdoğan also commented on the ongoing investigation into financial crimes concerning the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB), saying, “It is our duty to ensure that the judiciary carries out its responsibilities.”
