NEWS CENTER- The US Congress's lower house of the House of Representatives adopted a bill that officially recognized the 1915 Armenian Genocide. The bill will be put to a vote in the US Senate soon.
The House of Representatives, the lower house of the US Congress, adopted a draft law that officially recognizes the 1915 Armenian Genocide. The bill was adopted with 191 no against 223 yes votes. The bill will be put to a vote in the US Senate soon.
On April 11, the House of Representatives Intelligence Committee President and California Deputy Democrat Adam Schiff said in a draft resolution that “the House of Representatives considers recognizing and commemorating the Armenian genocide as US policy”.
The draft bill stated that the US policy on education and public information on the Armenian Genocide, including the US humanitarian efforts in the 1915 events, will be encouraged.
TRUMP SAID 'GREAT DISASTER'
US President Donald Trump used the phrase 'great disaster' regarding April 24, the anniversary of 1915 Armenian Genocide. Trump said: "Today we remember the memory of those who have suffered in Meds Yeghern, one of the greatest massacres of the 20th century" in a statement he made.
