NEWS CENTER – Following the PKK’s announcement of its congress resolutions, Chief Advisor to the President Mehmet Uçum stated, “Comprehensive reforms will be implemented in the fields of democracy and law.”

After the historic call by Abdullah Öcalan on February 27, the PKK held its 12th Congress and made significant decisions that have dominated both Turkish and global political agendas. In response, Mehmet Uçum, Chief Advisor to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, shared a statement on his virtual media account on X.

EMPHASIS ON THE ‘TURKISH AND KURDISH CENTURY’

Uçum emphasized that comprehensive reforms would be carried out, saying:

“Together with all components of the people of Turkey, Turks and Kurds fought a war of independence against imperialism, founded the Republic of Turkey, and have determined their destiny together for eternity. Kurds are a foundational and inseparable part of the Turkish Nation. Kurds, as an inseparable part of the Turkish nation, are founders and permanent owners of the Republic of Turkey. The Republic of Turkey is also the national state of the Kurds. The Century of Turkey is the century of both Turks and Kurds. All the statements made in line with this paradigm show that a key stage in the transition to a 'Turkey without terrorism' has been completed. Moreover, these statements are a historical confirmation and declaration of the integration of Kurds with the Turkish Republic and the Turkish Nation.”

EMPHASIS ON A ‘NEW CONSTITUTION’

Uçum continued: “‘A terror-free Turkey’ is not an end, but a new beginning. The achievement of a terror-free Turkey marks the start of a historic era of ascension for the country. This new period will strengthen Turkey in every respect. It is widely acknowledged that we are entering a new phase where comprehensive reforms in democracy and law will be carried out, and a national and patriotic legal-democratic framework will be solidified. As can be seen, our foundational journey, which began with the War of Independence and was formalized with the proclamation of the Republic, will be completed with the transition to a terror-free Turkey and the implementation of inclusive reforms, particularly a new constitution. Thus, a fully established Turkey will move forward—unhindered and stronger—toward its goal of making the second century of the Republic the 'Century of Turkey.'”
