ANKARA - DEM Party's candidate for Parliament Speaker is Cengiz Çandar.
Peoples' Equality and Democracy (DEM) Party will compete with its own candidate in the parliamentary elections. It is learnt that DEM Party's candidate is Cengiz Çandar. Çandar's name is expected to be submitted with a petition to the General Secretariat of the Parliament today.
PARLIAMENTARY ELECTIONS
The parliamentary elections started on 28 May. Applications will be received in the first five days of the election process. In the second five days, elections will be held. The new Parliament Speaker will be elected by secret ballot on 3 June.
In the first and second rounds, 400 votes, the two-thirds majority of the total number of members, and in the third round, 301 votes, the absolute majority, will be sought. If the absolute majority is not achieved in the third ballot, a fourth ballot will be held for the two candidates who receive the highest number of votes in this ballot. The candidate who receives the highest number of votes in the fourth ballot will be elected speaker.
According to the information received, it is learnt that the AKP-MHP candidate will be the current Parliament Speaker Numan Kurtulmuş.
